Cultivation Guide

• Sunlight:

  Requires full sun (6 or more hours of direct sunlight per day). 
• Soil:

  Prefers well-drained soil with good organic matter. Dwarf rootstocks do best in fertile, well-draining soil, while M116 & M793 types are suitable for heavier clay soils. 
• Climate:

  Adapts to temperate climates, with some low-chill varieties suitable for warmer northern areas. 
• Pollination:

  While self-fertile, cross-pollination with other apple varieties like Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, or Fuji can improve fruit production. 
• Planting:

  Dig pits measuring 60cm, fill with good loamy soil and organic matter, and plant in the center, keeping roots intact. 
• Watering:

  Water regularly during establishment and during dry spells, especially when the fruit is developing. 
• Fertilizing:

  Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring and consider adding compost or well-rotted manure around the base. 
• Pruning:

  Prune in winter to maintain an open, vase-like shape, removing dead, diseased, or crossing branches to encourage air circulation and fruit development. 
• Pest and Disease Management:

  Monitor for common apple pests like codling moth and woolly aphids, and diseases like apple scab and powdery mildew. Use preventative measures like pheromone traps and horticultural oil, and remove and dispose of affected material.
