New Zealand Camellia Bulletin, 1994, Issue No.118, vol.XVIII, No.5, p.31, Reg. No.341: Originated by M.C. Jury, North Taranaki, New Zealand. A cluster flowering C.lutchuensis seedling that first flowered 1988. Apple blossom coloured, single flowers, 5 cm zcross x 2 cm deep which sit in multiples up the leaf stem with brilliant pink buds. Lightly fragrant, anthers yellow on creamy filaments. Flowers early to late. Growth habit upright, open with rapid growth and small, dark green leaves 3 cm long x 2 cm wide.

Developed by renowned New Zealand breeder Mark Jury, ‘Fairy Blush’ is a small-leaf hybrid celebrated for its exceptionally long flowering season. It produces an abundance of bright pink buds that open into ruffled, single or semi-double blooms. The petals are primarily white with a soft pink blush that deepens in color toward the outer edges, contrasting brilliantly against a backdrop of small, glossy, dark green foliage. Unlike many traditional camellias, ‘Fairy Blush’ features a light, sweet perfume. It naturally grows in a compact, bushy, and upright habit, typically reaching 1.5 to 2 meters in height and about 1 meter in width. It is also highly prized for being more resistant to petal blight than older varieties.
