Use as an Ornamental
Camellia transnokoensis is best used as a stand-alone ornamental, though it can be used as both a tub plant and for hedging. Initially the growth form is columnar, later maturing to a more oval shape after several years. When it flowers in spring the small white flowers cover the plant like snow. In a garden situation it will grow to 2-3 metres in 10 years, but if unpruned will eventually top 4 metres. Prune to shape and size as required.
Like all Camellias if the plant gets old and loses form, prune severely back to a stump 30 – 50cm high. After a few weeks new shoots will appear from the stump and the plant will reform.
